ior, Ickcs testified before the sen
ate naval committee that Edwin
Pauley, California oilman, told
him In 1944 that he could raise
$300,000 In democratic cam
palgn contributions if the gov
ernment did not push It suit to
gain possession of the sub
merged lands.
