reserve to permit ex-Wavca to

tions. The new Wave reservo
program, known as the V-10 In-,
active reserve, permits ex-waves
to enlist In the pay grade held
at the time of discharge, and
offers all the privileges of the
men's reservo program except j

"So for as I know there were
only two Americans who stayed
on tho cust side of the Rhine
a plutoon sergeant and his run
ner. They were asleep in their
foxholes und didn't hear the
others leave.
"The Oerinuns hadn't yet be
gun shelling the bridge. I sup
pose they were too disorgan
ized. About dawn we routed all
the men out of the halftracks
and sent them back over again,
and the armor started rolling
over, too."
For days the nuzls tried by
planes, shells, rullroad guns and
even dynumitc-loudod human
swimmers to blast the bridge,
They had missed their chance.

army was across the Rhine.
