"Lost Words Of Christ"
Sermons To Continue
At Klamath Lutheran church,
Cross and Crescent, the Rev.
S. M. Topness, pastor, will de
liver the second in a series of
Lenten addresses on the seven
last words of Christ from the
cross, the subject being, "The
Answer to a Robber's Prayer.".
Special music will include the
anthem, "O Sacred Head Now
Wounded" by Christiansen, by
the senior choir, and a duct,
"Verily I Say Unto Thee" by

Show Film
The religious sound film, "The
Kindled Flame," will be shown
Sunday in the auditorium of
the Zion Lutheran church. 1025
High. The first showing will
begin at 3 p. m. and tne second
at 7 p. m. . -
The film tells the story of
the persecutions of a band of
Christians in the year 304 A. D.
depicting the effect of that band
and its devotion to Christ upon
the Roman officials.
The First Christian church,
9th and Pine, is also participat
ing in this visual urogram and
will have a showing of "The
Kindled Flame. Monday, March
3. at 8:15 p. m. . There is no
admission charge and the pub
lic is invited.
The regular morning worshiD
service of the Zion Lutheran
church will be held at 11 a. m.

Sixth In Series
The sixth in a series of ser
mons by Howard F. Hutchins,
pastor of the Christian church,

The Christian church here, built
in 4891, went up jn flameryes
terday. Only some furniture and
the books of Pastor J. D. Harden
were saved. The loss was partly
covered by insurance.
The congregation was offered
use of Pacific university or the
high school here.

sion, which begins at 9:45 a. m.,
the sound film, "The Kimiled
Flame," will be shown as atudy
in church history.
The Brotherhood will sponsor
the Fireside Hour at 5 p. m. The
program will include "The
Kindled Flame," and a number
of shorter films. Lunch and fel
lowship will follow the pictures.

An adult membership class
will be organized in the pastor's
study at the church on Tuesday,
March 4, 7:45 p. m. A refresher
course in the fundamental teach
ings of the Bible and the Chris
tian religion will be given and
anyone interested is invited to
attend.
The Ladies Aid meets on Tues
day at 8 p. m. There will be an
address, "The Church and the
Home," by the Rev. David Bar
nett; a piano duet by Mrs. Chris
Sterlaud and Ronald Stcrland,'
and an instrumental solo, Ben

LDS Program
To Be Given
A story in granite and bronze,
"This Is the Place," will be pre
sented by the Relief society of
the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints, Sunday,
March 2, at 6 p. m.
The program of songs and nar
rations tells the history of the
Mormon pioneers up to their en
trance into the Great Salt Lake
valley, tying in with the Utah
centennial. A monument of
granite and bronze is being
erected by some of the nation's
greatest architects which will
commemorate the 'spot where
the pioneers first viewed the
desert valley that was to be their
future home, and from where the
church was to grow and spread
throughout the world.
Everyone is cordially Invited
to attend Sunday evening's pro
gram at the church on the corner
of Home and Martin.

Sermon Topic
The subject of the morning
service at the Immanuel Baptist
church, N. 11th and High, Sun
day, will be "The Awakening of
Memory." The evening service
will feature "How to Find God."
The young people's service will
be held at 6:30 p.m. and the
Sunday school at 9:45 a.m.
Rev. Sundstrom is entering his
third year as pastor of the Im
manuel Baptist church of this
city, located on N. 11th and High.
The church has seen a marked
increase in attendance during
his ministry. Financially it has
mpre than doubled its budget,
and in addition the church is
planning to enlarge its .edifice
this spring. Twenty thousand
dollars has been pledged toward
the project.
Elks Initiate
32 Members
ALTURAS, Feb. 28 Thirty
two members were initiated in
to the Elks lodge of Lakeview
at a meeting held here Wednes
day evening.
Over 200 were in attendance,
members from Lakeview, Su
sanville, Klamath Falls, Bend
and Alturas.
Entertainment by the high
school band and a banquet were
put on by the local members.

JOSEPH CONOER
Founders Day was observed at
Joseph Conger school at the
regular PTA meeting February
19. The program presented to
mothers and members consisted
of numbers by the first iirndo
rhythm, band, a sketch, "Faith In
Our Founders," road by Mrs.
Reginald Ersklnc, and o ptimo
duet, "Autumn Days" by Therusu
Borgen of Conger and Suo Knms
by of Fremont schools.
During the business meeting
those elected to serve on the
nominating committee were Mrs.
Dick Mnguire, Mrs. M. B. Houser
and Mrs. W. 3. Easter. Elslo
Coine volunteered to .serve on
the Summer Round-up commit
tee. The room count was won by
the first grade.
Refreshments were served
later in the cafeteria, where
Augusta Parker, principal, and
Mrs. Ernest Childers, past presi
dent of Conger PTA. presided
over a prettily appointed tublo
centered with blue and yellow
flowers, the national PTA colors.
Mrs. Childers and Mrs. John
Weber served on the refreshment
committee.
SHASTA
Founders Day was celebrated
bv the Shasta PTA on February
28 with Mrs. Earl Sheridan as
chairman. Mrs. Marion Barker's
third grade gave a play about
George Washington. Mrs. Mar
gnret Westlin's third grade
played three rhythm band num
bers. Mrs. Westlin and Mrs. Bur.
kcr's rooms tied In the room
count.
Elton Fishbuck then spoke
about several measures that arc
before the legislature at the
present time.
Mrs. Leon Kitchln asked the
PTA to try and get traffic en
forcement out on Madison for
the protection of the school
youngsters, brought about by the
many gravel and sand trucks
coming from the sand pit at the
corner of Madison and Shaita
way.
The nominating committee for
the election of officers for the
next year are Mrs. Stuart Bal
siger. Mrs. Ethel Buckingham,
Mrs. Bill Steele and Mr. Fish
back. Two of Shasta's past presi
dents were present, Airs. Marvin
Shell and Mrs. Ivan Crumpack
er. They were presented with

at 7:30 p.m. at the school. Mrs.
Ryan, president, presided at a
short business meeting at which
she appointed Mrs. Zclglcr, Mrs.
Yantls and Mr. Clemens on the
nominating committee. The room
prize was awarded to Mrs. Lliul,
seventh grade teacher.
Mr. Clemens, principal, Intro
duced John O'Connor, violinist,
who played three beautiful selec

O'Connor. Mrs. Moore donated a
home made cake which was auc
tioned and Mrs. Ziegler had
charge of a fish pond which
which swelled the treasury to
the tune of $55. - Refreshments
were served by fourth and fifth
grade mothers and teachers. The
