propriations from tho fund,
sum of twenty-five cents per
acre per year for each acre of
federally owned land In the vur
loua school districts, acquired
since 1930.
These actions cume Monday
when the chamber endorsed re
commendations (ri in lis educa
tion committee, headed by Cor
don Smith. Smith pointed out
that counties possessing vast
tracts of foderally-owncd tax
free lands are entitled to some
re-imbursement in exactly the
same manner as Multnomah
county Is seeking special appro
priations from the basic school
fund for Vanporl city.
In view of the confusion, how
ever, the hope was expressed
that no efforts be made to place
this basic achool luw Into effect
for the two-year period Inas
much. Smith said, as only four
or five counties In tho enllro

last November's election. He
