Circuit Judge Ralph S. Ham

by the state supreme court to
hear the Klamath county law
suit of B. H. Trippett vs. Har
win Jewelry company.
Judge Hamilton will, replace
Circuit Judge Charles H. Combs
of Lakeview, who was disquali
fied by the defendant. Judge
Combs had been assigned to
replace Circuit Judge David R.
Vandenberg, disqualified by the
plaintiff.

Navy Asks Thar
Allowance Continue
WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 P
The navy asked today that the
law providing monthly allow
ances for families of servicemen
be extended at least until July
1, 1949.
The allowances now could
cease six months after the end
of the war, as declared by con
gress. The navy offered a bill to ex
tend the benefits. It also asked
that the allowances of men en
listing prior to last July 1 be
continued throughout their four-
year enlistments.
4-H Leaders To
Attend Conference
Four local 4-H leaders will at
tend the 13th annual 4-H club
leaders' conference at Corvallis,
January 29. SO, 31, according
to Francis Skinner, county club
agent. Those attending from
Klamath county are Mrs. Jessie
Kcady and Helen Sullivan,
Cookery club leaders of Henley:
E. D. Hoffmun, Garden club
leader of Henley: and H. B.
Winebarger. Beef club leader of
Merrill. The delegation will
dri.e to Corvallis Tuesday after
noon and will return to Klam
ath Falls Friday afternoon.
This is the first annual leaders'
conference at Corvallis in the
last four years.

today it had readied an agree
ment with Burma that will per
mit the Asiatic crown colony to
attain independence.

ister affairs during the transitory
period for the 2B2,000-square-milc
rrgion and its 17,000,000
inhabitants.
