Vows Exchanged On
New Year's Day
MT, LAKt Erl Juanlta Fleming, daughter of Mr. mid Mrs.
Richard L. Fleming of Mt. Laki, exchanged vows with Russell
Lowell Fairchlld Jr., in a New Ycar'i Day ceremony at the First
Methodist church at 2 o'clock In the afternoon.
Rites were solemnized in a candlelight service read by the
Rev. Victor Phillips, pastor, before an altar banked with wood
wardia fern and calla lilies.
Tha brida chose traditional white satin for her wedding gown,
which was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves,
fitted at the wrist and with wide
lace inserts from the neckline to
the edge of the skirt.
Her fingertip veil fell from a
tiara of crystal beads and pearl
orange blossoms. A cascade of
satin streamers and pink rose
buds fell from the single orcnid
arranged on her white Bible. For
Jewelry she wore a single strand
of pearls with matching ear
rings, a gift from the bride
groom.
Lila Cox was maid of honor.
Her gown was of blue tulle with
matching headdress. Hazel Buck
ingham of Corvallis and Mrs.
Ernest Hills HI of Burlingame,
Calif., were the bride's other at
tendants. Miss Buckingham wore
jersey gown of orchid shade
with a pink headdress, and Mrs.
Hills was attired in a green
marquisette frock with a pink
headdress. The attendants car
ried nosegays of small flowers
centered with calla lilies.
Robert M. Brown, close friend
of the groom, was best man.
Ushers were William C. Canton
and Elvin E. Phillys.
Preceding the ceremony, Mrs.
John O'Connor played several
numbers on the chimes, and ac
companied Mrs. Robert Craig as
she sang "Always" and "O,
Promise Me."
Mother of the bride, Mrs.
Fleming, wore a two-piece en
semble of gray gabardine with
black accessories. The groom's
mother, Mrs. Fairchild, chose a
frock of teal blue crepe with
black accessories. Both wore
corsages of email orchids.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Russell L. Fair
child Sr. of Westover Terrace
' and a graduate of Klamath Un
ion high school. He served three
and a half years with the army.
Mrs. Fairchild is a graduate of
Henley high school and attended
Klamath Business college.
A reception in the church par
lor followed the nuptials. The
young couple cut the first piece
of the wedding cake, which was

LANGELL VALLEY Women
of the Guild of St Barnabas
church gave a card party and
bazaar at the parish hall on
December 10. Bridge and
pinochle were played, with prizes
won by Mrs. Malcolm Tear,
Mrs. Charles Wells, Owen Pepple
and Mr. Olson.
Refreshments were served
later in the day. The special
award went to Mr. Sharp.

Monday Session
President Martha Brothanek was in charge of the meeting of
the Malin American Legion auxiliary held at the Malin church
on Monday, January 6.
Two new members were initiated and welcomed by the mem
bership. They are Mrs. Barbara Breuner and Mrs. Evelyn Duncan
of Malin.
Mrs. Nell Retterath was commended for her wonderful work
of collecting a very neat sum for the "Gift For The Yanks Who
Gave." She received the good news in a letter sent to the auxili
ary from the state secretary, .

urday, January 29, at the Broad
way hall to benefit the annual
March of Dimes drive. Mrs.
Grace Stephens was appointed
general chairman for the affair.
The auxiliary will serve sup
per for the dance on Saturday,
February 1, at the Broadway
hall. The proceeds will be used
to further the rehabilitation and
child welfare programs which
the auxiliary sponsors for dis
abled war veterans and their
families. Mrs. Nell Retterath
was appointed general chair
man. Mrs. Irene Freitag and Mrs.
Mary Jane Pagyr will serve on
the entertainment committee for
February. Mrs. Beulah Reber
will be hostess for February and
she will be assisted by Mrs.
Mary Jane Pagyr.

Gilcrist of 315 Grant, to Dale
Tepper. The ceremony was read

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a brown suit
with matching accessories, and a
gold mesh half hat. Her bouquet
was of Talisman roses centered
with three bronze orchids.
Frances Gilcrist was her sis
ter's maid of honor. She was at
tired in a suit of tan with brown
hat and accessories. She carried
a bouquet of Talisman roses.
Frank Weber was best man,
and Robert Hall and Eugene
Hooten were ushers.
At the reception, Mrs. Alfred
Clawson. sister of the bride,
served, and Mrs. Jessie Gilcrist,
the bride s grandmother, poured.
After a wedding trip, Mr. and
Mrs. Tepper will be at home in
Los Angeles where he is attend
ing school. Mr. Tepper is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Tepper
of Roseburg.

club on Wednesday evening,
January 8. Fourteen members
attended, and following a brief
business meeting auction bridge
was played. Adah Patterson held
high score: Alma Cofer, second;
Stella Dryden, low. and Blanche
Barker received the special
award. The place for the next
meeting will be announced later.
Contract Club
The Thursday Contract club
met at the home of Bertha
Hewitt of 2225 Darrow, on
Thursday, January 2. There was
one quest, Arlene Schubert, who
received the award for high
score. Fannie Thompson was
second, and Clara Standish re
ceived the traveling award. For
the next meeting, Idoline Schupp
of 530 N. 10th will be the hostess.

A regular meeting of Neigh
bors of Woodcraft was held in
the KC hall Monday evening,
January 6, with Vera Reeves,
guardian neighbor, presiding. A
no-hostess potluck luncheon fol
lowed. The Juveniles met Mon
day afternoon at 4 o'clock in the
KC hall. During the business
meeting a membership drive was
filanned, to begin at once and
ast until April. Refreshments
were enjoyed after the session.
Both Neighbors and Juveniles

MERRILL In 3 o'clock, double ring ceremony, Mary
Frances Sharp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Claranc E. Sharp of
Merrill became the bride of James E. Hammond, son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. E. Hammond, also of Morrill, on Sunday, January 6.
The service was read in St. Augustine's church by tha Rev,
Father John O'Connor in the presence of large number of
friends and relatives of the young couple.
The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a dress
