spun around two tacklers and

In the final quarter Paffrath

backfield and came within a hair
of pulling the game out of the
fire by himself.
Gains On Ground
After a punt out, Black took
the ball on its own 20 and Paff

up to the 31 on the first play. His
next gain was 17 yards, followed
by a 13-yard gallop. Some small
gains made it first and 10 on the

Mayne missed two passes, a

the fourth down Mickey was

To Be Drawn
To get permits to take part
in any of the seven controlled
deer and elk shoots outside the
regular seasons in Oregon this
fall it will be necessary for
hunters to write a letter to the
Oregon state game commission
in Portland, putting in a bid
first, the applicant must
have a state hunting license.
Send the number of the license,
your name and address, infor
mation as to which special sea
son you wish to hunt in, and
five dollars for your permit.
In case there are more appli
cations for the permits than
there are tags to be issued, a
drawing will be held for each
special season on August 21.
The persons who arc drawn for
permits to hunt will be sent
their tags, and the losers will
be sent their money back.
According to state nnlire
here, there seems to be nothing
against a person taking part in
more than one hunt if he
DUtS
in Dias tor more than one tag
and sends in the required
amount of money.
Also these game seasons are
over and above the regular sea
son and the regular limit of
one buck
Closest at hand are the three
special deer seasons in Lake
county: Summer lake. October
to November 2 (500 permits
for deer of cither sex): Crooked
creek. November 4 to Novem
ber 10 (500 permits for antler
less deer): Devil's Garden, No
vember 30 to December 4 (500
permits for antlcrless decr.l
Two others are in Baker and
Union counties. Two special elk
shoots for bulls or cows will be
held in Wallowa and Umatilla
counties.
