Solon Against
Third Party
SPOKANE, Aug 8 i.-JV- Rep.
Hugh Delacy (D-Wash.) told the
western state conference of the
International Association of Ma
chinists last night that a third
political party was not '"in the
cards now'' and urged its mem
bers to support progressive
members of either party.
Delacy asserted the recent
congress was controlled by the
National Association of Manu
facturers through a coalition of
republicans and "poll. lax demo
crats." 'The republican party is al
most controlled by reactionar
ies," Delacy continued, "but
we can't depend exclusively on
the democrats either.''
The Oregonian Council of
Machinists was picked as hosts
of next year's conference at a
city of their choice.
