cently returned from China
where she served with the
American Red Cross.
As procurement officer. Miss
Osborn worked with the army
and also purchased merchandise
for local Red Cross clubs. She
was in China approximately 15
months, spending most of this
time in Shanghai and Kunming.

well to Mrs. George Cornell
Monday evening at the home of
Mrs. Bob Erlandson. The Cor
nells left Thursday for Pitts
burgh, Penn., where he is to
study art. They are spending a
month en route, visiting friends
and relatives as well as sight

Leaving
After three months of wait
ing, Mrs. John Harding, the for
mer Margaret Horton, received
word this week that she ia to
leave for New York August 12
for the first lap of her Journey
to Join her husoand, MaJ. John
Harding, who is stationed with
the army in Rome.
Mrs. Harding and her young
duughter, Jonnie, are to be in
New York August 18 and will
leave the United States prob
ably August IB. They will go
to New York by train.
Mrs. Harding and Jonnie have
been staying with Mrs. Hard
ing's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rae
Horton of 635 N. 11th, since
Maj. Harding went to Rome
last December.

Weed Show
On Monday afternoon, August
5, the Klamath Falls Garden
club will present its annual
weed show at 2 o'clock .in the
city library clubroom.
Arrangements of weeds and
plants found along roadsides.
lakeshorei and fields will be
exhibited in natural settings
combined with branches and
rocks.
Another exhibit will deal with
weeds and "nuisance" plants
when they are allowed to enter
and take over a garden.

Miss Osborn recently re
turned from 18 months in China
with the Red Cross. She Is Mrs.
L. W. Soukup's sister. Mrs. Haz
zard is a former resident of this
city and is now living in Sacra
mento. She is a sister of Mrs.
Stiles.

Engaged
The engagement of Janice
Elaine Reil, daughter of Gus F.
Reil of San Diego, Calif., to Lt.
(Jg) Robert J. Lidell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. A. Lidell of Tule
lake, was announced at a small
luncheon at the Pelican cafe
Tuesday. July 30.
Announcements were printed
on small calling cards. Guests
were Mrs. Vaunice Lidell, Mrs.
Iniogene Smith, Phyllis Rowan
and Mrs. Mabel Lidell.
The wedding date has been
set for August 11. The ceremony
will be a lawn wedding.
Lt. Lidell recently returned
from Hong Kong after four
years of naval service, with two
years overseas.

hostess at a bridge party Wed-
nesday afternoon, July 31. hon-
oring her sister, Mrs. Delmar
Frappia. who is visiting her
from Omaha, Neb.
Garden flowers were used to
decorate the rooms. High went
to Mrs. Bryant Williams and
low to Mrs. Howard Dixon.
