Worka, the flnn that built the
flrat and finished the last World
War II naval vessels In Portland,
was reported today.
President Winston Cusey sold
properties of the 30-year-old
firm, owned by Casey and two
other associate stockholders, II.
A. White and E. L. Casey, have
been placed on sale. Te firm
now employs 800 workers In Ita
shipyard, foundry and machine
shop.
The firm built 185 naval vpsets
of 15 tjpes and converted 15
others from Junp, 1041, to May
28, 1048, when the escort carrier
Rabaul was delivered. The peak
wartime payroll waa 10,000
workers.
