When the palatial chateau at the
Oregon caves is officially opened
to tourists Wednesday, May 29,
all will be In readiness to receive
an estimated 50,000 visitors dur
ing the 1046 season the first
season since 1041 that the re
sort has been open to guests.
Already this year hundreds
upon hundreds of tourists have
visited the caves themselves, and
during the war the caverns were
open to visitors at all times dur
ing season and a staff of guides
was maintained there. But the
chateau and guest houses were
barred and locked to the world
while the war was being fought.
