Cause Found
NEW YORK, May 24 (A-) The
army today Identified as sum
mer diarrhea me disease wnicn
caused the death of four babies
and made seriously 111 17 others
who arrived in the united States
recently aboard the bride ship
Zcbulon Vance.
Two other babies, one In Pitts
burgh and one In Paris, 111., have
died, but the army Investigating
board which named the disease
said their diagnosis applied only
to the four who died In New
York. The baby who died in
Pittsburgh arrived Sunday on
the brazil.
The board said cause of the
outbreak of the disease had not
been determined. Mothers of the
children have said unsanitary
conditions on overcrowded ships
were responsible, although the
army reported from Paris that
the Vance carried 40 fewer pas
sengers than capacity.
The board's statement declared
the disease is not uncommon and
"occurs In hospitals and other
institutions where large numbers
of new-born Infants and older
infants up to the age of 12 months
live in close contact."

Class At Altamont
Vacation Bible school in the
Altamont Junior high school
building, conducted by the Peuce
Memorial Presbyterian church
begins Thursday, May 30, for
a 12-day session, closing with a
picnic on June 14. This Bible '
school is undenominational in
teaching and welcomes all boys
und girls four through fourteen
years of age. Bible stories, mem
