Weekend Fishing
Trout season opens In earnest
In these parts Saturday and
chances arc that the lakes in
these parts will be getting a
heavy play over the weekend.
Choice spots opening up Sat
urday include Lake o' the Woods,
Odell, Crescent, Agency and the
upper half of the Upper Klam
ath and all other lakes in the
county except for that part of
Davis lake which lies in Klam
ath, way up in the north end of
the county.
Most of Davis lake is In Des
chutes county and the season
there opens May 30. That's more
for fly fishing.
A nice Sunday trip for the
fisherman and his family this
weekend would be to take a
swing around the Upper Klam
ath, seeing some beautiful
scenery and also quite possibly
enticing some trout out of the
water somewhere alone the line.
The state secondary road
around the west side of the lake
is in good condition all the way
to Fort Klamath.
On the wav around you could
wet a line in the top half of the
lake, opening Saturday, and in :
Cherry creek. Rock creek, Three i
Mile creek, Sevenmile and Wood j
river.
All the rage right now among i
fishermen is that part of the
Deschutes below Wickiup dam,
where the trout are reported to
be biting almost anything that
hits the water.
Lake o' the Woods will be
open this weekend and resorters
are expecting a good season
there. The lake was dotted with
boats last Sunday and the road
is open all the way. Fish lake
is yielding some catches now
but the road from Lake o' the
Woods to Fish lake is not open.
The county isn't working on it.
Parties going in have gone
around into Jackson county and
up.
Eighteen thousand legal sized
, rainbow are now being released
in South Twin lake, Deschutes
v county, by the game commis
sion, but don't go after them yet.
South Twin season opens June
29.

Smash Medford
The Pelican netmen routed the
Medford tennis team at Moore
park Thursday afternoon, eight
matches to two, and the victory
assured Klamath of second place
in the southern Oregon loop and
a possible tie for first.
If Ashland and Grants Pass
plit their series the Pelicans will
be tied with Ashland for the
lead.

Off past records, the Boston
Red Sox stand a seven-to-three
chance of winning the American
league pennant.
In defeating the, Chicago White
Sox, 7-5, yesterday to stretch
their winning streak to H
straight games, the Red Hose
joined 10 other junior circuit
clubs which have won 14 or
more consecutive games since the
loop was organized in 1901.
Seven of these went on to cap
ture the flag.
The Red Sox need only a vic
tory over the Yangees in their
series opener at New York to
day to record the longest win
ning streak in the American
league since the As swept
through 17 consecutive wins in
1931. Should Boston sweep the
weekend three-game set, the Sox
will rank second only to Chi
cago's hit) ess wonders of 1906.
The National league record is
26 by the New York Giants in

penchant for landing on Max
Soriano for six-run clusters in
the ninth inning. The Webfoots

Oregon fishermen face prospects
of only poor to lair angling con
ditions this weekend, although
some good catches have been re
ported in coastal and a few Wil
lamette valley streams, the state
game commission said today.
The outlook by counties:
Columbia Fair culchos re
ported in southern portion. Sal
mon fishing has tapered off due
to start of commercial season.
Yamhill Weather favorable,
water clear but catches have
been poor.
Benton Fair catches on most
streams.

Santiam river too high. Lukes
