Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Nagel
were able to use their boat for
tin first time ilnce January 12,
tn crossing from their home to
the lodge last week. The lake
has been frozen over and while
the main body of water has
been free from ice for nearly a
month, the bays and near the
shore line have been covered.
Walter Larken is relieving in
Fields as telegrapher. He took
the place of Harvey Dowdy; sta
tion agent here, while Dowdy
was tn Eugene, Larkin is a new
telegrapher recently hired by the
Southern Pacific company. He
recently returned from the
south Pacific where he served
in the navy.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Adkison
returned from Portland after
spending nearly a week visiting
their son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knoll. Mrs.
Knoll and son Johnnie returned
with them and will spend the
greater part of the week here
The Knolls expect to move from
their home in Oswego to Astoria
shortly.
The road from Willamette
highway to the lodge has been
cleared of snow. Bud Clarke
found clearing the snow extreme
ly difficult this year due to the
water content making it much
like cement to move. Clarke has
spent the greater part of the
winter here removing snow from
the right-of-way and keeping the
road to the lodge from the rail
road tracks open with his bull

absent for few days.
Mrs. Resona and son Maurice
are getting nicely settled in their
new home on S. 6th.
Mr. and Mrs. Macaffee spent
Die weekend at Malin visiting
relatives there.
Mrs. Newell and children are
living at the home of her sister
and family since her home was
burned inside and the furniture
destroyed by fire few weeks
ago.
Thomas Hess arrived home
Sunday from Fort Lewis, Wash.,
where he received his discharge
from the navy some time ago.
He visited with friends near the
fort for several days before re
turning home. Tom is the last
usually as well as unseasonably
warm day.
A porcupine was run over by
the train and killed here Sunday.

Charles Green has been plow
ing and getting his fields ready
to be seeded. Joe Lelbing was
spring-toothing his hay field last
week. Smithers has his spud
field plowed and leveled here,
and Gus Hilyard has been get
ting his fields ready for spring
planting.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Manning of
Spring Lake visited Sunday with
their daughter Geraldine and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Craw
ford. Vern Moore has a crew doing
some fencing on his property
here.

ing a very troublesome tooth
taken care of.

Gus Hilynrd's nephew Marvin
who was released from the navy
just after Christmas says he is
glad to be home again. He was
in the Atlantic and Pacific war
rones.
Mrs. O'Reilly who was wash
ing dishes Friday saw a fire
start on the roof of her neigh
bor's house and ran to tell them
and also put it out before it did
much damage which was cer
tainly appreciated very much
by them.

Mrs. Henry Orth reports ex
cellent success in her win k us

was assisted by Mrs. Elmer Zum
brun. The quota set for Fort
Klamath whs $130, and tho sum
of $194.10 has been turned in by
Mrs. OrUi to tho Klamath Full
office.
Mr. and Mn. Ord Prltchett
have returned from ft week's
trip to Hollister, Calif. Mr. and
Mrs. T. J. Hawking and small
son Jerry have also arrived in
Fort Klamath from Hollister for
the season, and are at their home
at the Hawkins ranch. Prltchett
is ranch foreman for the Hawk
ins Cattle company, and also
lives on the Huwkins ranch.
Mr. and Mrs. John Cauhapa
have returned to Fort Klamath
after spending the winter in
California. Some of their caltlo
has already arrived here for
seasonal pasture at the Hawkins
ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Jess
Vandcrpool, employed locally
by the Can ha pes, are also back in
Fort Klamath at their home at
the Hawkins ranch.
Mr. and Mrs. Wllford Donnelly
spent last week visiting relative-i
in Prineville. During their ab
sence, their daughter Gwendolyn
Jane stayed at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Fritz Holiemann and
daughter Ellen,
Mrs. Rudolph Mclnturff was a
Klamath Falls visitor on Thurs
day. George Denton returned home
Friday from Klamath Falls
where he had been a patient at
the Hillside hospital for the past
ten days recovering from a
major operation,
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Schroed
er visited here Friday, accom
panied by her father. Schroedcr
recently underwent major surg
ery in Portland at the Good
Samaritan hospital, and they are
staying at M rs. Schroeder's
