ities committee to arrange for
other sarvlce. Albert H. Cille,
chairman of the committee, said
the school board and the state
public utilities commissioner
have approved a plan for the
McClean Transportation com
pany which operates 20 school
buses, to operate those buses on
city lines when they are not
hauling school children. The
only question, Gille said, is
whether the company can get
enough drivers.
The council said It would not
intervene in the strike. The com.
pany does not have an exclusive
franchise in Salem.

Identified
ROSEBURG, Ore., April 16
(AP) Identification of a watch,
razor and purse, taken from the
clothing on the body of a man
found Sunday in Elk creek, one
half milo west of Drain, aa the
property of Carl Dave Hanson,
72, reported missing from his
home in Portland for the past
month, was announced today by
Sgt. Paul Morgan of the state
police.
Residents of Drain tentatively
identified the body as that of
a man who registered at the
Drain hotel under the name of
Walter Hceder, Seattle.
William R. Anderson, West
Roseburg grocer, however, posi
tively identified the articles
found on the body as belonging
to Hanson, his uncle, who left
Portland a month ago, presum
ably to visit Anderson In Rose-
ourg.
An autopsy being held today
under the direction of Coroner
H. C. Stearns was expected to

as Hanson underwent an opera
tion several montns ago that in
volved removal of a portion of
his stomach.
