Ban Placed On
Nylon Export
WASHINGTON, Aoril 5 MP)
The government today banned
further export of nylon hosiery
except by permission of the com
merce department's office of In
ternational trade.
The commerce department said
the export controls had been
established "to prevent undue
drain upon the limited domestic
supplies."
The international trade office
did not specify any quota for
exports.
It said that since the end of
the war overseas shipments of
nylon hosiery represented only
"0.87 of 1 per cent of the number
produced."
However, the office said, there
has been a tendency for the
shipments to increase since the
first of the year.
