WASHINGTON, March 30
(IP) Hatchery-reared brook
and brown trout are being
made more colorful so anglers
can't tell them from wild
trout. The trick is a little pep
per in their diet.
By using 2 per cent paprika
in the food, the fish and wild
life service reported today, the
fins become colored and spots
characteristic of wild fish ap
pear. "Larger quantities of papri
ka produced brilliant colora
tion of the entire body," the
service said in a statement,
adding the trout retained this
color for six weeks to two
months after it developed. The
taste of the fish is not alfected.
The service has decided to
try the paprika diet in federal
hatcheries during the coming
season, and in some of the
state hatcheries. -
No method of coloring
hatchery rainbow trout has
yet been found.

and Don (Dreadnaught) Otten
two of the tallest cagers in the
country on its roster, the west
assumed the favorite's role
against the east in tonight's all
star contest which closes out the
basketball season at Madison
Square Garden.
Another turnout of more than
18,000 is fairly certain to be on
hand to witness the parade of
hoop stars for the benefit of the
Herald Tribune fresh air fund.
The preliminary game of the
doubleheader brings together
two championship high school
units, Cliffside Park, group
three titleholder of New Jersey,
and Southern high school of Bal
timore, the class A Maryland
state champion.
While neither coach, Ohio
State's Harold Olsen of the west
nor St. John's Joe LaDchick of
the east, had decided as late as
this morning on a starting line
up, it was believed that Kurland
would open at center for the
west.

Driver Killed
In Auto Crash

Gustave Albert Kost, 43, was
killed today in an automobile
collision which seriously injured
his wife and the driver of the
other car.
Mr. and Mrs. Kost were both
hurled from their car by the
impact. The other driver, Glen
