when the grange' ladies will
meet to concoct salads, make

East, Side grange benefit dance

desires for a big evening of fun

Charlie L a r k i n returned
home last Monday after serv
ing a short term in the Alturas
hospital.. The hitch, caused by
a discomotion of the vertebrae
in the lower region of his
spinal column, happened when
he somehow disrupted the unity
between two vertebrae, setting
them unhappily one against the
other. This caused grief and
pain to the whole column and
subsequently became unbear
able to the body as a whole.
We are glad that the malad
justment has been corrected
and Charlie is again at ease
with himself. He is going to
visit for awhile with his daugh
ter, Mrs. Alice Allen and her
husband, Bill, down on the
ranch.
Mr. and Mrs. ' R. L. (Short)
Snider arrived last weekend for
a visit with Short's parents,
Mr, and Mrs. Robert J. Snider.
Short has recently been dis
charged from the service and
he and his wife arc taking a
little breather before launching
upon an adventure which is to
be their life's work. Short is
planning on returning to Alas
ka where he worked prior to
his enlistment into the army
air cadet corps, and as soon as
possible secure a homestead in
the north. Both he and his wife
like the country so much up
there that they are going back
to make their home there.
Mr. and Mrs. Claude New
comb are visiting for a time
with the Delbcrt Cloud family.
Natives of this village have
had their fond hopes revital
ized, of the day when they will
see a swell highway stream
gracefully between here and Al
turas, skirting Sugar hill at a
lower-bench level, and shorten
ing the time to that county
seat. Substantiated rumors have
it that work is to begin on this
much needed improvement now
soon. The sooner the better
the quicker to Alturas we will
go!
Chief Steward Ralph D.
