Kurland flipped In 29 points Saturday night in leading
the Aggies to a 62-35 victory over tho California Bears for
the western regional NCAA basketball title and didn't get
up too much of a sweat in doing it.
The Oklahomans. thanks to Long Bob, will dofend their
national honors against North Carolina university in the
NCAA finals at New York City tomorrow night. California
plays Ohio State university in the consolation tilt.
Kurland took over the national scoring lead from Elmore
Morgonthaler, Now Moxico School of Mines' 7-foot 1-ineh
centor, as he dropped in 12 field goals and five free throws
to prop his total for 32 games to 620, Morgonthaler complet
ed the soason with 585 points in 28 games.

has a four-year total of 1646 points for the Aggies with one

selections, was announced Sat
urday as backfield coach for the
Beavers for the 1946 season. He
will take his new position at the
opening of spring practice April

nounced that the famous D-boys
of the 1942 Rose Bowl game
fame, Don Durdan and Bob
Dethman, have been hired as
special backfield assistants for

named director of men's, physical

track coach at Lewis and Clark

Fix attended Eastern Oregon
