have brought city police a bum
per crop of minor accident re
ports, but only one person, a
mall boy, has been injured In
any ol inursaay misnaps.

coasting on a sled down Port
land yesterday afternoon.

The boy was only slightly in
jured and was returned home
where he received medical atten

The greatest damage to vehi

cars operated by Leonard Mich
clson, 228 No.- 4th, and Charles
H. Stewart, 1110 Main, which
crashed at Main and 6th last
night.
Michelson estimated the dam
age to his 1941 Ford at $100 and
to Stewart's 1938 Chevrolet at
$85.

temporary headquarters in San
Francisco or London, rather
than in New York, and to delay
the decision on the permanent
site a year or two.

The negligent homicide case
against Michael Foley, scheduled
to come into circuit court next

nie Spicher following an auto-
moDiie accident on s. 6th on No

He has entered a plea of not

Woman Driver
Mrs. Lavinia L, Shcllhorn,
route 2, was fined $10 in muni
cipal court yesterday for failure
to yield the right-of-way to a
pedestrian. She was arrested on
a warrant after police had inves
tigated the accident at Es
planade and Wall Tuesday night
in which 85-year-old Thomas J.
Prather was Injured. :
Clarence Day, 520 Broad, was
fined $25 and given an addition
al six months operator's license
suspension in court this morning
for driving during a period when
his license was revoked.
Six drunks, one disorderly
and one Indian woman charged
with possession of liquor ap
peared in court today, and five
parking tickets were paid.

Whirling Drill
Scalps Woman
PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 8 (IP)
A whirling drill caught the hair
of Mrs. Freda McKeith, attrac
tive 36-year-old brunette, and
wrenched four square inches of
scalp from her head.
Surgeons at Bryn Mawr hos
pital sent to the Autocar Works
at nearby Ardmore yesterday
and got the skin. Then in an
emergency operation, they sewed
Mrs. McKcith's scalp back to her
head.
"She will be quite all right,
surgeons said.
House Votes Down
Portland Cemetery

The house refused to approve a
$605,240 appropriation for a na
tional cemetery at Portland,
Ore., proposed by Rep. Homer
Angeu (K-Ore.l as an amend'
ment to the war department
civil functions bill.
Angell contended a national
cemetery was needed in the

Drifting Mine

SEATTLE, Feb. 8 (IP) The
coast guard reported last night
the sighting of a drifting mine
southwest of the mouth of the
Columbia river, off the Oregon
Washington coast.
The Wednesday location of the
mine was given as latitude 46
degrees 12 minutes north, longi
tude 124 degrees 11 minutes 2
seconds west.

Thursday. February 7, 99. The de
ceased was a native' of Vale, Ore., and
wu ared 30 yean 10 montha and 7
day- at the time of hit paaslng. He
was a recently discharged veteran of
the army air corps. Ha is survived by
his mother, Mrs. Gertrude E. Fisher;
and a sister. Valeda Gundersen, both of
Portland. Ore. The remains will be
forwarded to Portland, where funeral
service will be held from the chapel
of Holman and Lutz Funeral Home.
