Warning To Motorists
By EARL WHITLOCK
I suppose it is natural, in the
feeling of freedom that comes
with the war's end and the
termination of ,
gas rationing,
that folks every
where should
be a little more
reckless in their
driving. I ex
pected It. But
I expected, also
that, given time
for the first
burst of joy,
people would again settle down
to a sane and sensible system
of driving technique.
But the recklessness seems to
hold. And that is unfortunate
for everyone. It isn't only the
adolescents who are careless of
rules and regulations, disobey
ing every standard of courtesy.
It is grown and supposedly sen
sible men and women of ma
ture years.
In this profession, you know,
we see more than most people
do, of the terrible consequences
of the present let-down in com
mon sense in motoring. And
believe me, when I say that no
minute you can save is worth
taking a chance for.
Even If you have the right
of way, in a driving crisis
yield it. Because the mere fact
that you were right will not
lessen the tragic effects of an
accident.
Next Monday Mr. Whltloelc
of the Earl Whltlock Funeral
Home will comment on "Where
Shall They Rest."
