Interests Of
Court At Heart
; Slating tliat he "didn't want to
cause the court any expense,"
Tony Shouldcrblade, Cheyenne
Indian charged with larceny by
bailee, this morning refused
Judge David R. Vandenberg's of
fer of appointment of an attor
ney in circuit court.
The Indian cowboy told the
court he had no money with
which to pay for the -services of
a lawyer. The judge told him
not to worry about the court and
that he could have a lawyer if
he wanted one.
Shouldcrblade still refused
and next Monday was set as the
date for entering a plea. - -
He failed to return a saddle
borrowed from Delbert Crane,
according to the district attor
ney's information against him.

"THE LOST WEEKEND"
One of the most talked-about
books, Charles Jackson's "The
Lost Weekend," will probably
be one of the most talked-about
.motion pictures, if advance no
tices are any indication. For
those who have seen Para-
mounts picturuation of the
best-seller, co-starring Ray Mil
land and Jane Wyman, and due
soon at the Pelican theatre, de
clare it to be one of the most
unusual and daring films ever
maae.
.
Ray Mi 11 and
Uf - M plays Don Birnam,
VSiF-.the story's be-
f r devilled hero, and
t-v Jane Wyman 1 s
seen as Helen, his
iSi? f . ' sweet heart. For
!52i both MUland and
fJLJp - Miss Wyman their
roles in 'The Lost
Weekend" represent a debut in
to the dramatic field of acting,
as each has heretofore special
ized in romantic comedy and
other light mediums.
Others in the Charles Brack
ed - Billy Wilder film are Phil
lip Terry, Howard da Silva,
Doris Dowling, Frank Faylen.
The story concerns the shock
ing experiences of a sensitive,
intelligent man during his five
days' abandon to an insatiable
hunger for liquor. The devotion
of his sweetheart, the patient
understanding of his brother,
cannot keep him from going off
the deep end into an abyss
never yet interpreted on the
screen. It is not until he sinks
to the depths of degradation
that he finds himself. By then,
according to reports, you will
have lived through a picture
experience so exciting, you will
never forget it.
