organizations around town

the city treasury.

the coming year by the boxing
commission. He's been at it for
a long time and has the neces
sary contacts to arrange a week
ly card that only years of con
nection with the same can brine.

musclers here, what with the
bright lights and crisp money of

from several colleges for his
postwar services on the cinders.
At Manila Davy placed second
in the 440, third in the 100-yard
dash and fourth in the 220, rac
ing against boys pulled from all
branches of the service and from
all over the Pacific. Among his
competitors were track men who
were on the Georgia, Stanford
and Pennsylvania cinder squads.
Henthorne is stationed at
Samar, Philippine Islands, in the
navy.
Joe Kahut Offered
Fight In Garden
PORTLAND, Jan. 18 (P)
Joe Kahut, Woodburn, farmer,
knocked out last Friday by Gus
Lesnevich, light heavyweight
champ, has been offered a bout
on the Joe Louis-Billy Conn
card, Matchmaker Joe Water
man said today.
Waterman said Kahut was
asked to box a heavyweight
match on the supporting card
for the June 19 world's heavy
weight championship in New
York City.
The offer came from Nat
Rogers, matchmaker for Mike
Jacobs.
. Waterman said he would try
to arrange an eastern boxing
tour for Kahut, with bouts in
other eastern cities.

Minor Angling Law Changes Made
Angling regulations for 1946,
as tentatively set by the state
game commission last week, will
not be adopted finally until Jan
uary 26, giving time for fisher
men and game organizations to
register any objections with the
commission.
General season for trout six
inches or over in length will be
from April 20 to October 31,
except in Lake county where
the season will open May 20,
one month later, and in Harney
county where the opening date is
set for May 4.
The bag limit remains the
same as last year 15 fish or
15 pounds and one fish in any
one day, but not to exceed 30 fish
or 30 pounds and two fish in any
seven consecutive days.
Black bass may hereafter be
taken all year around except in
Klamath county waters which
will be closed during May and
June to such fishing. The eight
inch length minimum on black
bass Is removed. The bag limit
on perch is removed this year.
Davit lake, north of Dia
mond lake in Klamath county,
will be open for fishing from
May 30 to September 1. Other
regulations for the county re
main the same as last year.
Closed to all angling are
Klamath river for a distance of
4000 feet below and 2000 feet
above the mouth of Spencer
creek, Spencer creek itself, Odell
creek from the lake downstream
to a point where telephone lines
cross the creek near the forestry
camp, and that part of Link river
.from the Copco dam to 200 feet
below the dam.
General angling season in
Lake county is from May 20 to
October 31. Open season from
April 20 to October 31 holds for
Ana river, Drews creek up to the
first railroad bridge above the
highway, Dog creek below Dog
lake, Dry creek, Honey creek
below the water gauge at the
mouth of the canyon, Thompson
valley reservoir, Thomas creek
up to the north fence of the
Lukevicw-Kimnntn runs mgn
wny, and Hart lake.
Closed to all angling are
Dondliorse lako and the upper
reaches of these streams: Buck
creek, Bridge creek, Walker
creek, School creek, Gonrhnrt
creek, north fork Spraguc river,
Bear creek, Sycnn creek, Coffee
pot creek, Drews creek, Whit
worth creek, Deep creek, Crook
ed creek, Porcupine creek, Guyer
creek, Camp creek, August

The general season holds on
Deschutes river except that in
the portion of the river between
Wickiup dam to Sheen bridge
the season opens May 1. Other
regulations for Deschutes county

29 to August 31, North Twin
lake, Juno 29 to September 30.

In Douglas county the season
runs from June 8 to September
30 at Diamond, Fish, Buckeye
and Cliff lakes and Fish Lane
creek. Loon lako is opened to
angling during general seasons.
All tributaries of North and
South Umpqua rivers and the
main Umpqua river east of high
way 99 closed from October 31
to April 15. North and South
Umpqua rivers and tributaries
closed to Chinook salmon fish
ing from July 15 to January 1.

Old Form
Some of the old-timers in the
Klamath Gun club are beeinnine
to get their shooting eye back but
last bunaay s trap scores were
still not up to pre-war par, par
ticularly in the handicap firing.
About 45 gunners came out to
the Wocus trap shooting grounds
Sunday, but not all got all the
shooting they wanted on the two
traps running, so next Sunday
the other two traps will probably
be in operation. ,

solved a travel bug-a-boo for fol

made six trips to the Rose Bowl

"Now," Hill facetiously told a
meeting of the Alabama State
society here last night, "Luther
Patrick and I have it all figured
out. We're going to introduce a
bill to officially move the Rose

Fremont Highlanders Ski club
of Lakevluw has opened its
Warner canyon ski course for
the winter season and at present
about three Inches of powder on
lop of from two to three feet of
packed snow Is mulling excellent
skiing conditions.
The grounds are lust north of
Lakevlow, and hotel and res
taurant accommodations may be
had within a short dlatanco of
the skiing.
A 1000-foot lift is being oper
ated on weekends and a warm
hut faces the grounds from
which spectators may watch the
