Col. John J. O'Brien of Seattle
today was appointed Judge advo
cate general of the eighth army,
replacing Col. Robert V. Laugh-
lin, who has returned to the
United States.
O'Brien was the law member
of the war crimes commission
which tried the first two Japa
nese charged with atrocities
against prisoners of war.
