Two Boards Of Education
Members Resign Positions
Two members of the boards of
education submitted resignations
to their respective bourds at u
regular meeting held Monday
night.
C. S. Elliot, member of Board
No. 1, resigned his duties In
favor of Howard Barnhlael
whose post he filled when Burn
hlsel wont Into the armed forces
In 1042. Elliot served out that
term and was elected to a second
term. Burnhlsel wus named by
the board to fill the vucancy. He
will serve until the next school

Arthur It. Dickson, member of
Bourd No. 2, submitted his resig
nation to his bourd asking re
lcuse from his duties on the
grounds that he was moving out
of the district. Dickson said he
and his family would reside in
tne Henley district wncre ne nas
purchased a farm.
Members of the board took no
action in filling Dickson's place.
It Is understood that an appoint
ment will be made at an early
date. Dickson has served Board
No. 2 since 1044, originally ap
pointed to flu the vacancy
caused by the resignation of Mrs.
Burt Schultz. Dickson was later
elected.

Donald O. Ross, former Klam
ath teacher and now returned to
the staff, will assume an evening
teaching assignment to cover
provisions embodied In the new
compulsory education law. Stu
dents under 18 years of age, who
are employed Bnd are unable to
attend day classes, are required
by law to attend at least five
hours of class work each week.
Two evening classes to provide
for these students will be organ
ized at once.

the opening of the second semes
ter, boards were advised. The

Gralapp was asked by the
boards to prepare plans Bnd spec
ifications for the installation of
a boiler at Fremont school. At
the present time the school Is en
tirely dependent for its heat on
the Klamath Heating company
plant and it has been necessary
on several occasions to conduct
classes in inadequately heated
rooms. The boiler will be of suf
ficient capacity to heat the entire
school, Gralapp said.
Garry Robertson, principal of
Roosevelt school, presented a
leave of absence plan for teach
ers in Districts 1 and 2. In the
Dast both districts have worked
under separate plans. Under the
new proposal a unified leave of
absence program will be effec
tive in both districts. It is now
under discussion.

are planning to leave for Port,
land this weekend to attend an

of Oregon Cities.
Going from here will be

Newton and C. P. Van Doren.
City Engineer E. A. Thomas and
Police Judge Harold Francy. The
three-day session is slated for
January 21, 22 and 23.
There will be no meeting of
the council Monday night. In
stead, an adjourned meeting of
the council will be held at 7:30
p. m. Friday.
