Quit Business

business with the sale ot Under
wood's photo service and Cam
era shop to Eugene Bailie and
Krik Carlson, returned World
War 11 veterans.
Bollie and Curlson, both well
known here, took over the opera
tion of the two businesses to
duy. Tho two men are brothers-in-law.
Underwood came to Klamath
Falls in January, 1000. For 39
years he operated the Under
wood pharmacy which he sold
to Walgrcon's. The photo serv
ice was retained and moved up
stairs in the Underwood build
ing at 7th and Main, On Oc
tober 16, Underwood' purchased
the Comurt studio and the East
mun Kodak dealership from
James Floyd at 727 Main, Floyd
recently moved his commercial
photography business to his
residence.
Discharged
Builic was with Klamath
Theatres for 15 years prior to
entering the Scabces. He was
discharged from the' navy fol
lowing 26 months In the service.
11 months spent in the Russell
islands and seven months on
Okinawa. He was with the first
Scabces to land on Okinawa and
served during the invasion
months.
Carlson, employe of the First
National bank, is a veteran of
the European campaign. He is
a life long resident of Klamath
Falls and was overseas with the
U. S. army Infantry for eight
months. He will devote his time
at the camera shop and Bailie
will be in the photo finishing
service. Flo Ann Euton remains
with the firm as do others who
worked for Underwood.

WASHINGTON, Jan. i (IP)
An 18-ccnt a pound boost in but
ter prices for the housewife by
April 1 was reported today to
have been recommended by
Secretary of Agriculture Ander
son. Aides, who could not be
named, said Anderson had made
the recommendation to encour
age greater production. Under
the plan, prices would be ad
vanced six cents a month begin
ning Feb. 1. .
An increase in the ceiling
price Feb. 1 would be the second
in less than three months. Last
November, the price was in
creased five cents a pound to
offset withdrawal of a subsidy to
butter makers.
