tlon offico has handled 4000 in
quiries ' regarding veterans' af
fair since it was .activated
March 27, 1945, Patrick W. Kil
by, officer In charge, states.
"The veterans' hospital, re
cently granted for Klamath
Falls, was definitely assured,"
Kllby said, "by the number of
veterans applying for hospital
benefits through the local office,
furnishing evidence of the need
here."
Kllby further stated, "Klam
ath -Falls Is one. of the leading
center In the state and ranks
high In the nation for having
adequate facilities for the care
of veterans and their depend
ents. This la due to the citizens
being fully conscious of veterans
problems and also to tho Im
mediate action taken to Improve
weak spots In the veterans re
habilitation program."
Kllby extends appreciation to
all organization and Individuals
for their "splondld support and
co-operation'' In this, program.
"Although the Job Is only half
finished becauso only half the
veterans are home, continued
co-operation will make the vet
erans being discharged glad to
return to this area," he said. .
The local office, the first of its
kind to be established in Oregon
Is now officially designated as a
sub-regional offico due to the in
creased service being rendered
regarding veterans' affairs. The
staff has recently been increased
with the assignment of Zerto
Dent who will attend to affairs
of veterans education, training
and vocational rehabilitation.
Beverly Reed, recently dis
charged from tho Waves has also
been added to-the staff to act in
the capacity of clerk-stenographer.
