The Giants have come out on top 15 times. Chicago's winning
of 20 double-headors Is another record. Tho Cubs enjoyed play

Mel Ott finished his 20th season for the Giants, pushing his
lifetime league records lo 1857 runs scored, 1850 runs batted In,
B032 total bnsvs, 1000 extra-baso blows, 510 home runs and 1700
walks. The Giants will be owing Mel a pension soon.
The down-trodden Phillies also set a couple of league marks:
Tiller record of 17 times and .100 or more losses per season at
I times. The Phils lost 108 games last soason. Anton Karl
hurled portions of 67 games for the Phillies, none of them com
plete, for a new record.

touting. Hal Gregg of Brooklyn pitched two one-hitters, against
the Braves and Phillies and a two-hitter against the Phillies.
Gregg won IB and lost 13 during the season. Tracey Barrett
dropped 20 tilts for the Phils, contributing materially to the
Quakers 108 losses. Charlie Schanz of the Phils hit four Clncy

special elk-shooting season to re
duce elk numbers encroaching
on agricultural land will be held
In Baker county Dee. 28-81.
The state game commission
authorized the emergency season
after Baker county ranchers
complained elk wero Invading
their haystacks and fences. Ten
ranchers were accused early this
month of shooting 13 elk on
their places.
