The newly-acquired mammoth
rock crusher which is in opera
tion on the Malin-Bonanza nigh
way about a mile east of the
Poe valley junction has provided
enough rock in three months for
county road workers to get the
roads in that section ot tne coun
ty in excellent shape for the win
ter. County Judge U. E. Reeder.

maintenance work of the road
department in Foe valley and
Langell valley yesterday after
noon.
The crusher, set up in Septem
ber, is able to grind out about
vuu yards ot gravel a aay lor
road topping, and has turned out
some 65,000 yards since it began
operation. y
Economical
Operation of the endless-belt
machine is termed very eco
nomical' by the county commis
sion. Three men and a foreman
keep the machine running and
at Dresent three trucks are haul
ing the rock to the hooper.

The crusher, through a series of
operations, pounds the rock slabs
into gravei, grades tne grav
el for size, sifts out the dirt and
pours the finished product onto
waiting dump trucks.
The Olene-Poe valley road, re
built this year by the qpunty, is
in good shape where gCivel-top-ping
is finished but the stretch
from the curve above ie Chet
Barton ranch to the Ialin-Bo-nanza
road which has not been
. topped is still rough.
Work on the east side Langell
valley road may be completed
today. That road has been nar
rowed down where irrigation
ditches have been dug and the
uiri piiea alongside will nave
to be moved and spread over
low spots.
A mile and eight-tenths of the
west side Langell valley road
has been topped, mud bogs
cleared up and that road is in
good shape for the winter.
There is still some work to be
done on the north side of the
valley but that may not be done
this winter. -. . - ,
During the war the British
flew 18 railway locomotives to
Burma.
