Klamath Falls' victory bond
buyers wero treated to two
hours of grand entertainment
last night at the Pelican theatre
when the special events com
mittee presented tho Victory
Fun Frolic.
Hilarious skits, Jitterbug rou
tines, and several musical num
bers were on the program,
which was highlighted by a
brief talk by Lt. Betty Evans,
navy nurse who was interned by
the Japanese in the Philippines
for three years and one month.
She described her experiences
while a prisoner of the NIds.
stressing the miserable condi
tions under which she and 10
other navy nurses were forced
to live until the entire camp was
freed by the invading U. S.
forces.
Lt. Evans pointed out the cri
tical need for buying bonds In
order to provide for hospitali
zation and future care of thous
ands of veterans of World War
2.
Sgt. P. G. Smith of the Marine
Barracks did a bang-up job as
master of ceremonies during the
two-hour show introducing the
various participants which In
cluded Irma Beasly, Mary Ma
honey, Patty Meyers,- Graycc
VanCleave, Wells and Selby,
Patty Brown, and George Willis.
A four-piece boogie woogle
band composed of KUHS stu
dents played two selections, one
accompanying a Jitterbug trio
of high school pupils.
The Moose chorus line was
something you'd have to see to
believe and was greeted with
thunderous applause at the con
clusion of its routine.
