Map Divided
Tho map of Klamath county
was divided Into four sections,
Road intersections were marked
by colored dots with a letter and
number. If a fire broke out in
any section of the area, which
extended east to Lofcovicw,
north to the county line, west to
the county lino nnd south to the
state lino, guardsmen, immccu
ntely contacted, would rush to
the snot indicated by a flro snot'

roads to truffle in the area.
The master map was kept in
the state guard headquarters in
Sulem and small copies were
furnished to Co. B headquarters,

necessary for travel would bo
blocked unless dangerous to
travel. No one would be per

without authorization from some
forest protective agency or po

be maintained as long as any
danger existed.
Threat Diminishes
The plan was conceived In
March 1045. and was in working
order during tho hot dry season
when the threat of forest fires
was greatest. Most of the bal
loons which fell in this area
were reoorted to be seen during
January and February. By the
time the danger season had ar
rived the balloon threat, and

tled atop Roaring river bluff
and plunged to their death after
locking horns will provide veni
son dinners for patients at
Shrincrs hospital.

ined by group of 35 men on a
recent field trip In the Bly area.
The group assembled from
Lukeview, Klamath Indian res
ervation, Mcdford and Klamath
Falls, at the Bly ranger station
was composed of forestry men
and men Interested in the work
in this area.
Through rugged weather,
Thomas Orr Jr., forester at Wey
erhaeuser Timber company, con
ducted the group through Weyer
haeuser Camp 6, to look over
cutting and logging operations

to include all foresters In the
area.; General forest problems
facing foresters in southern Ore
gon were also discussed with a
view of getting active commun
ity approval to study more Im
portant phases.
The only report to date was on
blister-rust control work being
carried on in sugar and white
pine stands In southern Oregon.
Final reports on the work will
be made at the next meeting to
be held In Klamath Falls.
Ernest Kolbe submitted a first
copy of the Shasta-Cascade re
port which will be prepared pe
riodically, giving activities of
foresters in this area. Copies
will be distributed to all partici
pating members.
