Baby's Death

7 a. m. got her baby against the

and left. Some 20 minutes later
she was aeon walking along
Highway 97 carrying a blanket.
A short time after that the
young woman visited friends in
the negro section. They said she
told conflicting stories, saying
she wsd giving the baby to some
friends and also that she was
placing the child with her moth
er In Redding. Within a few
days the couplo left for Alton,
III., to resldo.
A post mortem will be held
here to determine whether or not
tho child was alivo at the time
lt was placed In the outhouse.

Sawdust Shortage
Closes Schools
DALLAS, Nov. IS OP) This
city's schools were scheduled
to close today because of the
sawdust shortage stemming from
the lumber strike.
Officials reported the junior
high school building had but a
half day's supply of sawdust.
Grade and high school buildings
were In better situations, but if
the junior high closes the others
will halt classes, officials said.
The school year will then be
extended Into the spring.
