A report reached Capitol hill
today that President Truman
will try to rescue hia boKaed
down "full employment" bill.
Several key leglitlators aald
they had heard Mr. Truman
planned to "go to bat" for the
measure. It has been stalled in
the house expenditures commit
tee ever since it passed the sen
ate more than a month ago.
The lawmakers told a report
er the first move to Jar loose
the bill would be a conference
today (10 a. m.) between the
president and Chairman Manas
co (D-La.) of the expenditures
group.
"Unrealistic"
Manasco, who has criticized
the legislation as "unrealistic,"
would say only that he had been
invited to the White House.
Several of his colleagues, who
asked not to be identified, said
they understood the president
planned to call other members
of the committee for similar
conferences, if necessary.
This development occurred as
mounting sentiment was shown
in the committee against ap
proving the measure.
Several committeemen told a
reporter that unless the presi
dent changes the minds of aev
eral the bill will not receive
committee majority In Its pres
ent form.
Action Doubtful
Several others said they
doubted any action would be
taken until after the first of the
year, regardless of the bill's
final version.
Hearings have been held
throughout this month and wit
nesses are scheduled through
next Tuesday. Manasco haa said
repeatedly, to hints of "stalling,"
that he Just wants "to be fair to
all sides." He has stressed that
most wltnesaea beard have been
proponents.

Unmasked Man Robs

(AV-An unmasked man walked
into the local branch of the Na
tional Dank of Commerce about
8:30 a. m., today, scooped up all
the cash within reach an unde
termined sum -and escaped in a
blue sedan. A few minutes
later, Sheriff Art Michel and
two deputies found the car,
wrecked, alongside the highway
between here and Bridgeport.
Posses are seeking the bandit.
Klamath Man Reports
Rowboat Stolen
Dale Price. 444 S. Riverside,
has reported to police that a 12
foot red tin rowboat was stolen
from its Link river mooring
some time early Sunday morn
ing. The boat, valued at about $40,
was taken from the beach about
200 yards below the Western
States Grocery company.
