New Shortage Of
Teachers Foreseen
SALEM, Oct. 24 VP) A new
shortage of teachers in Oregon
public schools was foreseen to
day oy Hex futnam, state super
intendent of nubile instruction.
He said that many teachers
plan to resign soon, either to re
turn to their former homes in
other parts of the country, or
because their husbands are get
ting home from the war.
He feared that many resigna
tions might occur before many
teachers return from the armed
forces. '
He said that of the 8000 pub
lic school teachers in the state.
about 1300 have emergency cer
tificates.
