potluck dinner and business

coke was cut by Mrs. Delia
Arnold in honor of her birth
day. One of tho members', Mrs.
Rliodn Teuney, who has moved
to Hilt, Calif., prevented tho
auxlliury, through its president,
Bernleo McCracken, with a
beautifully decorated cake. A
curd was signed by all present
and some of the rosea and cake
were aetit to Mra. Tcunoy In ap
preciation. After dinner, Mrs. Arnold
was presented with a gift from

brown accessories and a corsage
of gardenias.
Tho bride's sister, Helen Tay
lor, was maid of honor and

denia corsages.
Clyde Nelson was best man.
Centering the table at the re
ception held following the wed
ding was a large three tiered
wedding cake. The house was
decorated in pink, green and
white.

Bailey, chairman, offering her
home for the occasion. There
will be the usual exchange of
gifts and a Christmas tree. This

On October 4, the auxiliary to
the Veterana of Foreign Wars
held a regular meeting in the li
brary clubroom at 8 p, m. with
32 present. Four candidates wore
taken Into membership in tho
lodge, Ruby Hickman, Gladya
Kldd, Bertha Saylor and Effie
Redkey. There wero two visi
tors, Mrs. Ruth Keller, a mem
ber of the auxiliary of Elkhart,
Ind., and Mrs. M. D. Zell, past
president of the Bremerton,
Wash., auxiliary. Both spoke
briefly to the lodge.
Charlotte Canoy, chairman,
served refreshments, assisted by
Theresa Allesch, Lois Abbey and
Mra. William Barron; Lois Ab
bey received the special award
The next meeting will be Octo
ber 18 and Pelican Post 1383
will entertain the auxiliary fol
lowing their respective meetings.
On November 1, the auxiliary
will again hold Initiation with

Farewell Party
OLENE On Saturday night,
October 6, a farewell party was
held at the Olen community
hall In honor of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Rolling who are leaving
soon to reside near Brookings,
Oregon.
About 60 friends and neigh
bors of the Poo valley and
Olene communities were pres
ent. The Relllnga have lived in
this vicinity for soma time and
their many friends will be
sorry to see them leave. John
Marshall, on behalf of the gath
crlng, presented the Relllnga
with a coffee table, a token of
esteem and affection from their
many friends.
Refreshments were served by
the Lost River grange at late
hour.
