berry crater area has been

prohibit mining claims being

cuted Joseph Darnand, former
chief of tho Vichy militia, at
Fort de Chatlllon today,
Darnand w a s' convicted of
treason on October 3 by the same
court which yesterday pro
nounced sentence of death upon
his superior, Pierre Laval.
A Dominican priest, Darnand's
lawyer, a doctor and two magis
trates were in the small group
which witnessed the execution.
Just before the shots were fired,
Darnand cried out:
"Vive la France! Farewell, my
militiamen."
