T. H. Adams, manager of the
Burton homes project, said to
day. Seattle will get 300 to house

CLOSE SUNDAY
The city summer recreation
program, under direction o: a.
Cj. riamDrlcK, closes bunuay, Au
gust 12. Kor the past week the
i.UriS natatorlum nas been open
lor swimming classes with aU
tendance of aoout lisu persons in
the attcrnoon and 50 in the eve
ning. Plans for the winter recrea
tion program are being outlined
now, Hambrlck stated.
Summer swim instruction
classes were well attended with
984 children enrolled. Total at
tendance for the swim program
reached 6UU1. 340 boys and girls
between the ages of 7 and 16 en
tered as non-swimmers and
learned to swim during the pro
gram. 110 additional children
were awarded certificates as be
ginners and ten as intermediate
swimmers.
Handicraft classes drew at
tendance of about 220 per day,
with all the children finishing
one or more articles. A display
of some of the finished work
was exhibited recently in a Main
street window.
A supervised playground pro
gram at Mills school grounds
was also sponsored by the city
recreation department. A total
attendance here of 2317 was re
ported. The recreation program was
limited to eight weeks this sum
mer due to a reduced budget,
Hambrick said. He said that re
ports of good results of the pro
gram from supervisors of the
various classes show that a long
er program would be twice as
desirable, and a municipal swim
ming pool a "must for Klamath
Falls.
