Harbor and while he was there

When the plane on which he
was flying refueled at his old
post on Johnson island, he re

ing. - Landing on another island he

vestigation of the shooting of a
7-year-old Silverton girl, arm in
juries sustained by a brother and
questioning of another brother
and sister is underway with the
arrival of Marion County Dis
trict Attorney Miller B. Hayden
and Sheriff Denver Young.
Marlcne Thomas, the 7-ycar-old,
is in a hospital and in seri
ous condition from a bullet
wound in the abdomen. She was
shot witli a .22 calibre rifle. Her
brother, David, 12, has a severe
ly gashed arm with broken
glass, lie having attempted to
jump from a window.
The shooting occurred late

State police had not been noti
fied until 10:30 n. m. today when
a newspaper told them about it.
The sheriff was advised nt the
same time.

had resigned Saturday, and the
new constable, S. A. Pitney, had
not been sworn in today.
