73 Horses Expected To Go
To Post For Anita 'Cap

Thirteen horses are expected to
go to the post for the $100,000
Santa Anita Handicap tomorrow
and, unless there is a surprise
entry, it wiU tie the 1940 Sea
biscuit race as the smallest field
in the handicap's history.

golf tournament will begin
Saturday, June 30, on the tricky

through July 4, inclusive.
Entry fee for the tourney Is
$2.50 and the affair will consist
of 72 holes of medal play minus
four-fifths of a player's handi
cap, according to Tournament
Chairman John West.
A beautiful cup will be at
stake along with war bonds
and war stamps when the top
golfers of Klamath county tee
off for gold and glory. Only
amateur golfers are allowed to
participate in the tourney which
was won last year by Eddie Sim
mons of Medford. Simmons has
a handicap of 2. Any one play
er must win the tournament
three years consecutively before
gaming permanent possession of
the trophy.
Simmons is expected to de
fend his title and. four or five
low handicap players from Eu
gene will also compete.

for catchers today when he dons
the mask and mitt for the Cleve
land Indians against his former

letics. The 29-ycar-old Iron man
caught his 217 the consecutive
big league game yesterday to tie
the mark set by Ray Mueller of
Cincinnati last year.

Promoter Mack Lillard said
