PFC Howurd fell from a cliff
whilo fishing at a lake 23 miles
south of Yreka, Calif. Ho ap
parently died instaotly.
Ho was a V-12 student at the
University of California. The
body wus brought to Wurd's and
the local murine command was
usked to furnish an escort.

civilian personnel office, said to
day, .and forty men are still
needed.
Duties of firemen at the base
are the same as those for the
city flro department, with 24
hours on and 24 hours on duty.
Age requirements are between
21 and 45.
There Is a need for 18 guards
at the navy station, these men
must bo 21 years old or over.

ence are given preference.
Guards work eight hours of duty
six days per week.
Cramblltt stated two clumbers
are also needed at the base,
five electricians, seven carpent
ers, six auto mechanics, six spray
and brush painters, one sign
puinter, three men chauffers and
21 laborers.
Workers not now employed In
essential industry are urged to
apply for the above positions.

off seriously since Saturday, the
last day of which one million
dollar sales mark was reached,
the federal reserve bank re
ported today.
Today's standing of $43,666,
328 means that a daily sale of
$1,417,000 must be achieved
during the rest of the drive

The state total for all series
Is $149,044,304, with total sales
for Thursday amounting to $5,-784,504.
