Second-baseman Bob Gorbould
of Seattle stole the show in driv
ing in four runs on his two hits
of the evening, one of them a

the last tally of a four-run as
sault in ine second inning.

Joyce held the Stars to three
singles and a double, retiring
20 men between the third and
ninth innings without a hit. He
did not issue a base on balls
and never allowed more than
one hit in any frame.
The Angels' Charley Cuellar
turned in the fourth well-tossed
contest in setting down the
Acorns 10-2 with seven hits.
Norm Deweese, Oakland center
fielder, stretched his consecu

the gridiron this fall.
The game, booked for Bell

Athletic Director Percy P.
Locey also announced the sign
ing of Quentin Greenough, who
played on the Beavers 1941 Rose
Bowl team, as line coach.
Greenough, recently granted an
honorable discharge from the
coast guard, was line coach for
the Alameda coast guard grid
team last fall.
