marketing problem, probably "a
quota holiday," was promised
here last night by Rep. Clinton
P. Anderson, New Mexico, who
will become secretary of agri
culture July 1.
Interviewed at a brief stop
at the airport, Anderson and
other members of his house
committee investigating food
shortages said they would do
all they could to alleviate the
meat shortage.
"It appears that 40,000 lambs
a month will have to be slaugh
tered in this area," Anderson
declared . . . "We are going to
try to get some action on the
matter." This, however, does
not -mean a point holiday on
lamb during the heavy season,
he said.
Rep, August Andresen, Min
nesota, gave a gloomy forecast
of no let-up in the beef situa
tion before winter. He predicted
the pork picture will' grow
worse. The meat shortage has
resulted "from ill-advised, ill-
