Mothers Honored At
Tea And Ceremony
Mother's Day was observed when the Girl Scouts of troop 8
and Brownies of troop 29 honored their mothers with a program
and tea given in the auditorium of Roosevelt school on Saturday
afternoon, May 12, from 3 to 8 o'clock.
Mrs. Everett Vanderpool and Mrs. A. L. Brandt were in charge
of arrangements. Mrs. R. H. Radcliffe, commissioner, Mrs. Roy
Carter, executive secretary, and Mrs. O. R. Holloway, leader
chairman, were guests of honor, representing the Girl Scout

Annual Girl "Scout awards
were made by Mrs. Roy Carter
and Mrs. R. H. Radcliffe. A
first class badge was awarded
to Sharon Williams, and a large
number of the girls received
second class awards. Most of
the Girl Scouts present received
service pins for work done dur
ing the year in community ser
vice. Mothers' and guests were
served from an exceptionally at
tractive tea table centered with
an arrangement of yellow tu
lips. Pouring during the after
noon were Mrs. Radcliffe and
Mrs. Carter. Corsages of spring
flowers were presented to each
mother as she was introduced
by her daughter. The tea com
mittee included Mrs. Victor
Newman, Mrs. Thomas J. Orr
and Mrs. Lloyd Porter.

Betrothal Told t
Elizabeth Frances Campbell of
Roseburg recently revealed her
betrothal to Patrick W. Kilby of
Klamath Falls. Vows will be ex
changed on June 23 in the Pres
byterian church at Roseburg.
Miss Campbell is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs, W. M. Campbell
and is a former high school eco
nomics teacher; ' She was dis
charged from the Waves in Octo
ber of 1943, and since that time
has been serving as a dietician in
the Veterans' hospital in Rose
burg. .
The groom-elect,- formerly of
Roseburg, came to Klamath Falls
the latter part of March as con
tact officer for the veterans ben
efit office. He is purchasing a
home in this city, and they plan
Ij make their home here after

Oath Of Office
The officers of the Altamont
PTA who will serve for the
coming year were Installed on
Thursday afternoon. Mrs. John
Selby, state regional vice presi
dent, gave the oath of office to
Mrs. R. E. Wonser, president;
Mrs. James Clark, vice presi
dent; Mrs. Montgomery, secre
tary; Mrs. Mildred Prather,
treasurer and Mrs. Gienger, his
torian. A lovely program, featuring
the crowning of a May queen,
was presented by the pupils of
Altamont elementary school, to
a large number of parents and
friends. A Maypole dance, drills
featuring the flags of the allied
countries and singing were the
highlights of the afternoon's en
tertainment. A delightful luncheon was
served by Mrs. W. S. Metier,
retiring president of the Alta
mont PTA at her home on Bis
bee street on Thursday noon
to officers and chairmen who
have worked with her during
the past year.

The Pythian Sisters met in
the library club room on Friday
evening of last week. Mrs.
Clara Gillian, mother of Mrs.
Redkey, was the guest of honor
for the Mother's Day program.
Mrs. Gillian was escorted by
two young girls, Karlene Ross
and Jackie Elliott. She was pre
sented with a bouquet of flow
ers and a gift by the members
of the club. -

at the Willard hotel. One hun

daughters attended, and the
meeting was conducted by Pa
tricia Benoist, honored queen of
bethel number 6. Included in
the numbers of the delightful
musical program was a piano
solo by Barbara Zinn, "Valse
Derand;" "Irish Lullaby" and
"Smilin' Through" were sung by
Marjorie McCullom, accompan
ied by Jean Hamilton at the
piano.
