TSgt. Robert J. Lilly, n of
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lilly, now of
Ashland, has been awarded the
Bronze Star for heroic achieve
ment In Belgium on December
26, 1044.
Young Lilly was serving with
Co. C, 318th Infantry when he
assumed command of his com
pany after all the officers had
become casualties. He continued
the attack to a successful con
clusion. Lilly was born in Klamath
Writ) September 17, 1983, at
tended his first year of school
at Mills and then transferred
to Bonanza where he went
through the second year of high
school, graduating from Ashland
high school In 1041. He attend
ed Southern Oregon College of
Education until his entrance in
to the armed forces. The in
fantryman's mother Is also a
native of Klamath Falls as is
Lilly's sister, Virginia.
