Countywlde interest Is being
shown in community 4-H fairs
being held now throughout
Klamath county.
Last week Allamont, Henley
and Shasta communities held
their annual fairs in the school
buildings. Fairs will continue
throughout this week until
Thursday. Maryolive Snarr,
club agent from Oregon State
college judged the exhibits.
The Danish system of judging
was used, which allows four
places in each class of blue, red,
white and pink ribbon groups.
Therefore, if the best item in
an exhibit really rates fourth
place, according to the standards
of judging, it is rated fourth al
though there may be no first,
second and third awards made
for that exhibit.
- Altamont's fair was held May
2, and awards were given in
clothing, cooking, knitting, room
and bachelor sewing projects.
Achievement pins were given
for from one to four years of
activity with the 4-H club, with
Lois Young and Stanley McClel
lan receiving four-year pins, and
Ruth Peyton receiving a gold
five-year pin.
- One-year pins were awarded
28 studentei two-year pins to 14
stud -Ms, and three-year pins to
eight students.
Henley's 4-H club fair was
held in the gymnasium oi tne
Henley grade school. May 3. Ex
hibits included sewing, cooking
and homemaking.
A style show by boys in the
bachelor sewing project follow
ed judging of the morning ex
hibits. The five boys in this di
vision wore camp or carpenter
aprons which they made.
Style reviews were given by
. f-.e three sewing groups, show
ing dresses made during the year
in clubwork.
Henley girl scouts conducted
a drill following the style re
views. A PTA meeting was con
ducted by Mrs. Earl Mack, as
part of the afternoon program.
Friday, May ,4r .Shasta 4-H
held its fair. There were 43 ex
hibits in the two projects, cloth
ing and camp cookery.
Mrs. J. E. Steele was in charge
of the exhibits and decorations
for displays.
Fourteen awards were made
for clothing exhibited,"and-22-in
camp cookery.: The afternoon
program . presented by fourth
and fifth grade pupils was well
attended.
Awards and. achievement pins
were presented by Miss Snarr.
Bronze ns, for one year of
club work were awarded by the
state department of education to
40 club members. Two-year pins
went to two students, and the
silver third-year pin was award
ed to one student.

photographing and fingerprint

Ackerman is in charge of this
department of police work here.
- A Gra-flex type camera . is
used for alt outside work such
as automobile accidents and
crime scenes. It is also utilized
to develop latent fingerprints at
the scene of a crime.
Plastic moulage and plaster of
Paris is used for casting foot
prints, tire tracks, and lethal
weapons.
A standard camera is used for
photographing purposes at the
station. The picture of each
man or woman photographed is
then filed for future reference.

TULELAKE In order to aid
in solving the problem of tem
porary emergency housing for
Japanese evacuees' returning to
the west coast, WRA has devel
oped a plan for loan of certain
equipment including beds, mat
tresses, pillows, blankets, chairs,
kitchen utensils, crockery and
cutlery to responsible organiza
tions for establishment of hos
tels in Oregon, Washington and
California.
Hostels, under the plan, must
be operated on a non-profit ba
sis and must be open for inspec
tion by WRA employes to insure
that facilities are utilized prop
erly. A minimum of 20 persons
must be served under the agree
ment and tenancy would be lim
ited to not more than - three
weeks except in cases of hard
ship.
Such hostels may be sponsored
Ly . responsible committees or
representative groups of people
other than the evacuees or in ad
dition to the evacuees with ap
proval of the WRA area super
visor in the district where such
hostelries are located.

Navy Steps Up Wave
Recruiting Quotas
WASHINGTON. Mny 7 (VP)
The navy announced today that
recruiting quotas for Waves are
being stopped up from 850 to
2000 monthly to meet "current
needs."
Manv of the recruits will be
assigned to the hospital corps
which already hai 13,000 Wave,
on duty. As of May 1, approxi
mately 82,000 Waves were In
service.
All recruits will be given
eight weeks' training at the
