Head Injuries

facial lacerations, but his con
dition was not considered crit

box 453, was said to be fair.
The boy has neck injuries, a
possible broken shoulder, cuts
and bruises. It is understood
that the boy asked Cole for the
ride as the elderly watchman
resides near the Sharpies home.
Turned Car
McFarland told state police
that he saw Cole leave the
Miles' service station and drive
toward Klamath Falls. McFar-

McFarland told officers, he
turned directly in front of the
truck, apparently on a dirt road
home. '
Officers arrested Cole on
April 16, charged the elderly
man with no operator's license
and no vehicle license. Officers
said they told Cole he was not
to drive his car in thefutur.

Donald Bayless, ItV son of

Modoc Point, lost his entire
lower lip Tuesday when a
mother des. apparently fright
ened when the child looked in

armed forces, was . unable to

Crawford suffered the injury
when a companion accidentally

arch, the slug emerging from
the sole of the shoe. The youth
was admitted to Hillside hospi
tal at 2:30 a. m. Tuesday. His
condition is reported as good.
Crawford's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Irvin Crawford, 1417
Worden.
This was the second gunshot
wound due to carelessness re
ported here' within one week.
Rev. James Gellar, Dorris. is
recovering from a .22 bullet
wound in the back suffered last
Saturday afternoon at Dorris.
Painter Falls
Painful injuries were sus
tained at 5 o'clock Wednesday
' afternoon by George Bret-
thauer, 61-year-old painter, who
fell 18 feet from a scaffold
while at work in the corridor
of the United States National
bank.
Bretthauer, employed by the
Alvin Davis Paint shop, was
moved by the Klamath Ambu
lance service to Klamath Val
ley hospital. The attending phy
sician said Bretthauer's injur
ies included a badly fractured
right arm, several broken ribs
and other hurts. Bretthauer
lives at 4922 Summers lane.

House trailers are causing a
sanitation problem here, ac-
corciro: to city police, when

nections. Owners of trailers are advised
that this procedure is a direct
violation of a city ordinance ana

At long last, after much hard
work on the part of many of the
students and adults who have
been willing to help the students
attain their goal of a high
school teen-age club, it Is finally
ready. Its grand opening is to
be this Saturday night. Two
large rooms have been built in
the cast end of the armory in
which room for dancing, coke
bar, table games, and just sit
ting down to talk have been
made available.
Tickets have again gone on
sale this noon in the hall, and
tomorrow in the students' room.
Tomorrow night is that long
awaited date for the annual
Girls' League Spring Formal
dance. Dancing to music fur
nished by Baldy s band will take
place from 8:30 until 11:30 in
the boys' gym. High school girls
may Jnvite escorts from out of
school so long as they are signed

A great deal of campaigning
has gone on within the portals
of Klamath high during the past
week. Much debating has taken
place as to who is the best man
for the lob of president of the
student body. Several of the
candidates for the several offices
have had cards printed, posters
and signs have been posted In
evory conceivable location In
the building, and campaign man
agers have spent every waking
hour talking up his candidate. A
student body meeting will be
held next Monday prior to the
election on Tuesday, at which
time each candidate will have an
opportunity to speak for himself
before the entire student body.
The three University of Ore
gon students who spoke in the
assembly yesterday stated after
wards that this had been their
largest audience, and they wore
appreciative of the excellent re
sponse given by the students.
Various members of the U. of
O. speech department travel
over the state each year discuss
ing current Issues. They stated
that the manpower shortage has
finally given college women an
opportunity to appear before
audiences. Formerly only men
