News of Engagement
Revealed at Tea
TULELAKE The engagement of Ardyce Brown, attractive
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Brown of Tulelako, to Sergeant
Jack Fensler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Fensler, was revealed
to fifty relatives and friends of the two families, at a lovely tea
which was given at the home of the bride-elect's parents on
Sunday, March 4.
Delicate pink contrasted effectively with pale blue in the
table decorations, and lovely-
floral boucmcts of pink carna
Hons and blue Dutch iris were
arranged in the dining room
where tea was served to the
guests, The betrothal of the
young couple was revealed by
the names "Ardyco and Jack"
in gold lettering on paper nap
kins, and a novel feature added
to the announcement was the
simulated diamond wedding
band which formed the napkin
ring.
Tall pink and blue tapers in
crystal candle holders were
placed at cither end of the lace
covcred tea table. Golden daf
fodils wore arranged throughout
the living room, and the pink
and blue color scheme was car
ried out in the refreshments.
Mrs. Fensler and Mrs. Roy
Campbell, aunt of the bride
ciect, poured during the early
part of the afternoon, and they
were later replaced by Bette
Campbell and Mrs. Ward Mc
Cullcy, The engagement was the cul
mination of a romance which
began when Miss Brown was a
student in the Tulclake high
school, graduating with the class
of 1940, two years after her
fiance, Sergeant Fensler,' who
enlisted in the army before
Pearl Harbor. Following her

No Immediate plans have
been made for the wedding, as
the young couple Is waiting for
further military orders. Sergeant
rensier is now on duty as a
member of the ground forces at
the Victorville army air field.

rier, Glide, was awarded a
Silver Star medal for conspicu
ous gallantry in action qn

nounced today.
He was cited for remaining at
his artillery observation post in
an exposed position, despite fact
all other members of his con
trol team were put out of action
by heavy enemy fire, and direct
ed devastating and effective fire
on enemy positions.
A 1042 graduate of the UnK
versity of Washington, he is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L.
Currier.

SALEM, March 17 (VP) The
house sent to the governor to
day a bill to validate marriages
of divorced, persons who were
remarried less than six months
after their divorces were ob
tained. Sponsors of the bill said It
was necessary because many
soldiers have married divorced
women without waiting the six
months.

Reported In Klamath
Twelve cases of venereal dis
ease were reported in Klamath
county during tho week ending
March 10, 1045, according to
figures released by tho Oregon
Health bulletin.
Other communicable disease
cases reported during this pe
riod included one scarlet fever,
six measles, 10 chickenpox and
30 mumps.
Adjoining Lake county re
ported no communicable dis
eases during this period.
Klamath county also reported
23 newly-discovered venereal
cases in November and Decem
ber of 1044.
