As Iba puts it, Kurland aver

Kurland hit 444 points last
season, an average of 13.46 a

points in five games for a 16.8

CHICAGO, Bee. 26 (T) The
official American league pitch
ing statistics today showed Paul
(Dizzy) Trout and Harold New
houser. Betroit's brilliant mound
team, front and center on base
ball's stage for a rousing cur
tain call.
Not in 40 years has the junior
circuit produced such a prolific
pair of tossers on the same team.
In nearly hurling the Tigers to
the pennant. Trout and New
houser racked up 56 victories,
the most by a brace of team
mates since 1904 when John B.
Chesbro (41) and John Powell
(23) of New York collaborated
for 64.
The terific Tiger two-some
Lefty Hal Newhouser with 29-9
and righlhanded Trout with

league's only 20-game winners
this year and they permitted

them. Boston's Tex. Hughson

with Trout's runner-up total of

average at 1.95, but neither
pitched enough innings to rate
title consideration. Heving
worked 120 frames and Berry
111. Third in this department
with 2.26 was Hughson.
Newhouser placed second in
the won-loss column with a per
