Stalin Observes
65th Birthday k
MOSCOW, Dec. 21 yP) '
Joseph Vissarionovich Djugash-
vili, better known to the world
us Premier Joseph Stalin, cele-
brated his 65th birthday today a
with a complete absence of of--ficial
fanfare. .
Although the soviet union
took no formal notice of the oc-ir
casion, telegrams from all over
the nation, as well as from
many of the world's capitals,
poured into the Kremlin. -
Neither press nor radio made
any mention of the occasion,"
but like Washington's birthday!
is known io every Russian.
When we sold them anything
from our country they charged
it on the books, but when they1'
brought anything to us from
Germany it was a cash deal and
usually very expensive for Bel-;
