was employed as a truck driver

Cpl. Hcffron Is a gunner in

liatleiy. Proficiency in his du-
! tics is largely responsible for the
efficient operation of gun and
crew.
Cpl. Hcffron has been award
ed the Asiatic Pacific theater
medal, and a Ilronzc Star denot
ing participation in a major
campaign, and the Good Conduct
medal for exemplary behavior,
efficiency and fidelity while
serving in Ihe armed forces.
He also has three other broth

day by a group of educators.
Included were Hex Putnam,
state superintendent of public
instruction, and his staff'; and
representatives of the state
teachers association, public
school administrators, and the
state board of higher education.
Billing Clerk Drowns
In Lake Washington

tor Jaeger, 25, Motor Freight
lines billing clerk, drowned earlv
yesterday when an automobile
he owned less than 24 hours
plunged off a pier on the east
shore of Lako Washington.
California license plates led
deputies to think a California
man involved until draggers
found the body, some lime after
the car was raised. He had es
caped through a door, but failed
to reach shore.
His father, Malt, lives at
